How should I take minocycline?
1. Drink plenty of liquids while you are taking minocycline. You can take it with food or milk if the medicine upsets your stomach.
2. Don't chew or break the tablets. Solodyn tablets are meant to dissolve slowly, giving a steady dose of medication over time. If you break the tablet before you take it, you'll get too much medication at one time.
3. Take your medication at the same time every day. Take it with your morning coffee, just after dinner, or whenever is convenient, so long as you're consistent. If you take one pill in the morning one day, and then in the evening the next, it won’t work as well. You’ll have too much medication in your system at once, and not enough at other times.
May I take minocycline together with other drugs or vitamins?
Do not take iron supplements, multivitamins, calcium supplements, antacids, or laxatives within 2 hours before or after taking minocycline.
Can I suntan when I am on minocycline?
Avoid exposure to sunlight or tanning beds. Minocycline can make you sunburn more easily. Wear protective clothing and use sunscreen (SPF 30) when you are outdoors.
