How does Accutane work?

Accutane is the most effective acne drug available and works on all types of acne including the most severe cases (cystic acne, hormonal acne, etc.). The main effect of Accutane (AKA Isotretinoin) is a reduction in the size and activity of the skin’s sebaceous (oil-production) glands. It also suppresses the excessive production of the cells, which block the openings to the sebaceous glands. By normalizing the function of the sebaceous glands, blockage which previously caused acne is removed and avoided thereby clearing existing acne and preventing new acne from forming.
