There are two causes for pimples after waxing. One is the trauma to follicle caused by waxing itself, and the second is the bacteria that enter the damaged skin pores causing and small infection. Other causes are overheated wax that causes a burn, allergies to the wax, or just touching the area without gloves.
How to prevent post-waxing breakouts
Before waxing - clean your skin with a medicated salicylic acid cleanser. This type of cleaner, produce, and every mild exfoliation of the skin, removing dead skin cells and bacteria from the skin. To prevent contamination, you will need to use and fresh stick each time. If you do the waxing in a salon - you need to assure that they use a fresh pot of wax. Using a tea tree-based wax has antiseptic properties that can help reduce post-waxing pimples.
After waxing, apply a skin-soothing cream with aloe vera, or a witch hazel toner. This will calm the skin and help reduce skin inflammation. Try to avoid saunas and whirlpools with any waxing for at least 3-4 days. You will also want to avoid any exercise or activity that will make you sweat a lot on the day of the waxing.
Do not pop your pimples. This can spread bacteria and cause more breakouts.
